2024 Showreel.
A selection of work from my last academic year at university and this past year of freelancing.
Threads of Connection.
I set out to make three short, animated films for this project (Threads of Connection), inspired by conversations I had with other students on my course. I found that a lot of us had similar experiences moving to London for the first time and some had really unique perspectives on their experiences. We said we all felt a bit better after having these conversations and realising we weren’t alone.
One of the most common topics we discussed how difficult it can be to build new connections and support networks in a big city and as an adult. From there I decided I wanted to make a film showcasing students thoughts and perspectives on living in London, building connections and their advice to upcoming students. I wanted people to be able to speak frankly and honestly, so I set up an online survey where students from all over CSM could submit their thoughts anonymously.
I hope by watching these films, students can feel reassured that they’re not alone in their worries and maybe take some of the advice offered from the students in the films!
The Goldfish Club - 2020
Based off real events, ‘The Goldfish Club’ follows the journey my grandfather, John Edward Wilson took with his crew during world war 2. After having survive a traumatic plane crash the film follows the crew as they try and survive all alone at sea.
Using a hybrid of techniques, those being; oil-on-glass, charcoal and 2d digital animation. My film is an experimental journey into the minds and bodies of those directly affected by war and how people come to cope under extreme stress.
My film was 2020 winner of the 'Friends of University of Edinburgh Visual Arts' award.
